Floating seals
Floating seals are metal seals of the travel final drive, whose purpose is to maintain tightness of the hydromotor transmission part
Floating seals of the travel gearbox usually consist of two metal seals and two o-rings. Occasionally, the second part of the seal is a brown ring or outer raceway of the bearing. The travel final drive seal is necessary to maintain the whole hub in a fit condition. Seal failure or hub damage will result in an oil leak. This, in consequence, will turn into serious damage to the individual gear elements of the travel gearbox.
The travel final drive seal is used in many types of tracked machines as well as wheeled machines. For many years, they have been the basic sealing system for the travel gearbox of tracked excavators.
How detect the damaged?
The basis is to check if there are no large spills in the hub. They are visible when the machine is stoped. If there are none, the place where the gearbox assy and the hydromotor are connected, should be thoroughly cleaned. There should be no signs of “sweating”. This is the first stage of damage.
The travel final drive seal should also be replaced during any failure of the hub, because the filings arisened by gears or bearings damage can greatly accelerate the wear of the seals.
The seal has two rubber O-rings, which, not only have a sealing function. They are also responsible for travel final drive amortazing, which prevents the occurrence of bias stress.
In our offer you will find a very wide selection of such seals. When you ordering, it is very important to specify the dimensions of the seal – inside and outside diameter and height. Without this information it will not be possible to choose the right seal.
